Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has secured the transmission project to evacuate power from 1,500 MW pumped storage projects (PSPs) near Talegaon, Maharashtra.
REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (REC PDCL) invited bids in October 2024. AESL emerged as the lowest bidder, quoting Rs 16.6 billion, with fixed transmission charges of Rs 2.21 billion. Competing bidders in the technical round included Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) and Resonia Limited.
The project will be developed on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis through a special purpose vehicle (SPV), WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission.
The scope also covers design, engineering, procurement, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning. A 765/400 kV, 2×1,500 MVA gas-insulated substation (GIS) will be constructed near Kalamb to support green energy evacuation in the region. The project is targeted for commissioning by January 2027.
Once operational, AESL’s transmission network will expand to 26,696 circuit km (ckm) and 93,236 MVA of transformation capacity. The company’s total transmission order book now stands at Rs 616 billion.
