The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a USD 66.4 million sovereign loan to Uzbekistan’s JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan (NEGU) for a 500 kV, 230 km transmission line connecting Sarimay in Khoresm to Muruntau in Navoi.
The project will ease grid bottlenecks, reduce electricity outages during peak demand, and support the integration of renewable energy sources. It aligns with Uzbekistan’s low-carbon development strategy, developed with EBRD’s assistance.
The new line is expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 4,143 tonnes annually and reduce electricity losses by 34,636 MWh per year.
To date, EBRD has invested approximately EUR 5.3 billion in 171 projects in Uzbekistan.

This initiative aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), which has been allocated Rs 197.44 billion to establish India as a leader in hydrogen production, storage, and application. Under this mission, the Indian government has already awarded 412,000 tonnes per annum of green hydrogen production and approved 3,000 MW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity annually. Additionally, seven pilot…
Author: PPD Team Date: 07/02/2025 A BloombergNEF report forecasts a decline in the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) for grid-scale solar and battery energy storage in 2025. LCOE, which measures lifetime costs divided by energy production, enables cost comparisons across energy technologies. The report projects that the LCOE of fixed-axis utility-scale solar projects will decline 2% year-over-year, from $36 per MWh in 2024 to $35 per MWh in 2025. By 2035, this is expected…
