Adani Energy Solutions Limited has been selected as the transmission service provider for the South Kalamb inter-state transmission project in Maharashtra, after quoting the lowest annual transmission charge of Rs 120.14 crore in a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process conducted by PFC Consulting Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC).

The project, formally titled “Network Expansion Scheme for drawal of power at South Kalamb substation: Part A”, was put out for bidding through a request for proposal (RFP) issued on September 23, 2025. Three bidders qualified after technical evaluation: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Adani Energy Solutions Limited, and Resonia Limited. Adani emerged as the lowest bidder.

Following the bid result, South Kalamb Power Transmission Limited, the special purpose vehicle (SPV) set up to develop the project, was transferred to Adani Energy Solutions on Monday for a consideration of Rs 12.53 crore as per the share purchase agreement.

The project is expected to be completed within 24 months from the transfer of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to the successful bidder. The work includes creating new 765 kV and 400 kV bus sections II and III at South Kalamb substation with sectionalization bays, installing three 1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Interconnecting Transformers (ICTs), and adding 765 kV and 400 kV bus reactors. Line-In, Line-Out (LILO) works will be carried out on three existing 400 kV transmission lines—Nagothane-Padghe, Pune-Navi Mumbai, and Pune-Vikhroli—at South Kalamb, along with construction of eight new 400 kV bays for the LILO lines.

The project is intended to enhance power evacuation, strengthen the grid, and support future infrastructure, including a planned 6 GW HVDC terminal from Barmer-II and pumped storage near Talegaan.
