Powerica signs PPA with GUVNL for 100 MW wind project
Powerica Limited has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) to develop a 100 MW wind power project in Gujarat. The project will be developed at a tariff of Rs 3.435/kWh under a 25-year PPA with a stipulated execution timeline of 24 months. The company stated that the agreement does not involve any related party transaction and that its promoter group has no interest in GUVNL.
Clean Max Q1 revenue doubles to Rs 832 crore, returns to profit
Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Limited reported revenue from operations of Rs 832 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, up from Rs 402 crore a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA increased to Rs 494 crore from Rs 284 crore, while the company reported a PAT of Rs 55 crore compared with a loss of Rs 17 crore in Q1 FY26. As of June 30, 2026, its contracted RE Power Sales portfolio stood at approximately 6.0 GW, while the total contracted portfolio reached 6.8 GW. During the quarter, the company commissioned more than 0.5 GW of renewable energy capacity and data centre and AI customers accounted for 42% of contracted RE Power Sales capacity.
Cabinet approves Rs 5,070 crore floating solar and storage scheme
The Union Cabinet has approved the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY) with a total outlay of Rs 5,070 crore. The scheme will support development of 5,000 MW of Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) projects with co-located Energy Storage Systems (ESS) providing at least 10,000 MWh of storage capacity. Projects will be sanctioned between FY 2026-27 and FY 2030-31, with financial support continuing up to FY 2032-33. The programme is expected to mobilise around Rs 28,500 crore in investment.
ANDRITZ wins order for two Pelton runners for 1,020 MW Tala hydro plant
ANDRITZ has secured an order from Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) to supply two new Pelton runners for the 1,020 MW Tala Hydroelectric Power Station in Bhutan. Each runner will weigh approximately 18.5 tons and will be manufactured at the company’s Prithla facility in India. The Tala Hydroelectric Power Station is Bhutan’s largest joint bilateral hydropower project with India.
Motivelink, DNM Autopower plan Rs 300 crore EV components plant in Tamil Nadu
Motivelink and DNM Autopower have signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish an EV components manufacturing facility at Pillaipakkam in Kancheepuram. The project involves an investment of approximately Rs 300 crore and is expected to create around 1,500 direct and indirect jobs. The plant will manufacture coils, printed circuit boards, magnetic components, housings, transformers and filters.
SJVN’s Buxar thermal project Unit 2 achieves 660 MW full load
Unit 2 of SJVN Limited’s 1,320 MW Buxar Ultra Supercritical Thermal Power Project has achieved its rated full load of 660 MW. The project comprises two 660 MW units being executed through SJVN Thermal Private Limited. Once fully operational, it is expected to generate 9,828.72 million units annually, with Bihar receiving 85% of the electricity under a long-term PPA.
Andhra Pradesh proposes 7,872 ckm network under Green Energy Corridor Phase-III
Andhra Pradesh has proposed 7,872 ckm of transmission lines and five 400 kV substations with 9,500 MVA transformation capacity under Green Energy Corridor Phase-III. The proposal aims to integrate around 18 GW of green energy comprising 11 GW of solar and around 7 GW of pumped storage projects. The Centre has clarified that GEC Phase-III has not yet been approved and no funds have been sanctioned.
Adani’s first pumped storage project completes major GIS testing milestone
High Voltage (HV) and Partial Discharge (PD) tests have been completed for the 400 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) at the 500 MW / 2,805 MWh Chitravathi Pumped Storage Project in Andhra Pradesh. The project is Adani Green Energy Limited’s first pumped storage project. It is designed as a hydroelectric energy storage facility using two reservoirs with a storage capacity of 2,805 MWh.
Powertrac achieves financial closure for first 100 MW under Gujarat DREBP scheme
Powertrac Group has achieved financial closure for the first 100 MW phase of its 480 MW distributed solar portfolio under Gujarat’s Distributed Renewable Energy Bilateral Purchase (DREBP) Scheme. The projects have PPAs with Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL) at a tariff of Rs 2.76/kWh. The overall 480 MW portfolio is expected to require an investment of Rs 2,155 crore.
CERC proposes ISTS charge waiver changes for BESS, PSPs, RE projects
The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has issued draft regulations proposing changes to ISTS transmission charge waivers for renewable energy projects, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and pumped storage projects. The proposals include extending the waiver period for integrated BESS from 12 years to 25 years and introducing new provisions for projects delayed due to transmission infrastructure constraints. Stakeholders can submit comments until August 31, 2026.
KP Energy signs 100 MW wind PPA with GUVNL under Phase X tender
K.P. Energy Limited has signed a 25-year PPA with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited for a 100 MW wind power project under its IPP business. The tariff has been fixed at Rs 3.435 per unit and the Scheduled Commencement of Supply Date is July 30, 2028. The agreement increases the company’s cumulative IPP portfolio to more than 250 MW.
Maharashtra approves Rs 291 crore Pune Ring Main strengthening plan
The Maharashtra Transmission Committee has approved a revised Rs 291.95 crore plan to strengthen the 220 kV Pune Ring Main Transmission Network. The package includes new substations at Balewadi, Loni Kalbhor and Chinchvihire along with multiple transformer upgrades and conductor replacements. The projects are intended to address rising electricity demand and renewable energy integration.
Ranavadi pumped storage project moves forward after EAC’s ToR approval
The Expert Appraisal Committee has recommended Terms of Reference for Novarion Energy Private Limited’s proposed 1,200 MW Ranavadi Pumped Storage Project in Maharashtra. The Rs 6,093.62 crore project will have four 300 MW units and an estimated annual generation of 2,496.60 MU. The committee has sought additional environmental and hydrological studies before considering Environmental Clearance.
NHPC invites bids for 80 km transmission line for Jalaun Solar Park
NHPC Limited has invited bids on behalf of Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited for construction of about 80 km of 400 kV transmission lines for the 1,200 MW Jalaun Solar Park in Uttar Pradesh. The contract is estimated at Rs 259.22 crore including GST. The transmission system will connect the solar park to the interstate grid.
Waaree Energies bags 739 MW solar module supply order
Waaree Energies Limited has secured a domestic order to supply 739.71 MW of solar modules over FY 2026-27 and FY 2027-28. The company has not disclosed the customer name or contract value. The transaction does not involve any related party arrangements.
NTPC lays out battery storage, nuclear and coal gasification roadmap
NTPC has outlined plans covering battery storage, nuclear power, coal gasification and flexible thermal generation as part of its long-term expansion strategy. The company is targeting 150 GW of installed capacity by FY32 and 250 GW by FY37. NTPC also plans around 38.9 GWh of BESS, a 30 GW nuclear programme by FY47 and investments of around Rs 16.8 lakh crore between FY26 and FY37.
JSERC proposes market-linked intra-state DSM framework for Jharkhand
The Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission has released draft regulations proposing a market-linked framework for intra-state Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM). The proposal links deviation charges to market prices and introduces new provisions on deviation limits, payment security and energy storage systems. Comments have been invited under Section 181(3) of the Electricity Act, 2003.
MNRE proposes standard code for ALMM-listed solar PV cell models
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has proposed a uniform 14-character identification code for solar PV cell models listed under ALMM List-II. The code will capture details such as origin of raw materials, technology, wafer size and manufacturer identifier. Comments on the draft proposal have been invited until August 13, 2026.
PFC transfers two transmission SPVs to Apraava Energy and PGCIL
Power Finance Corporation, through PFC Consulting Limited, has transferred Ananthpuram Transmission Limited to Apraava Energy Private Limited for Rs 19.61 crore and Krishnagiri REZ Transmission Limited to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited for Rs 19.82 crore. Both projects will be implemented under the tariff-based competitive bidding framework on a BOOT basis. The scheduled commercial operation period is 36 months.
Bluebird Solar wins 278 MW module supply order for two SJVN projects
Bluebird Solar has secured an order to supply 278 MW of solar PV modules to Bridge & Roof Company (India) Limited for SJVN’s 133 MW Khavda project in Gujarat and 145 MW Nawa project in Rajasthan. The company will supply 600 Wp M10R N-Type TOPCon Dual Glass Bifacial Solar PV Modules. Bluebird Solar currently operates a 2.5 GW module manufacturing facility in Greater Noida.
IEX’s plea against power exchange market coupling rejected by SC
The Supreme Court has declined to intervene in the dispute over market coupling in India’s power exchanges, allowing CERC to continue framing the regulations. The Court said it was not the appropriate stage to hear the matter and clarified that it had expressed no opinion on the merits. Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) will be free to challenge the regulations after they are notified.
