Juniper commissions India’s largest wind turbine

Juniper Green Energy has commissioned what it describes as India’s largest wind turbine by rotor diameter and added 82 MW of wind power capacity across Rajasthan and Gujarat. The projects were commissioned across Barmer district in Rajasthan and the Surendranagar and Rajkot districts of Gujarat as of June 22, 2026.

The project features Envision’s EN-182 wind turbine generator (WTG), which has a capacity of 5 MW and a rotor diameter of 181 metres. According to the company, it is the largest wind turbine commissioned in India to date in terms of rotor diameter.

Juniper Green Energy said the deployment involved transporting turbine blades measuring approximately 89 metres in length and required significant logistical and engineering coordination.

The company commissioned 82 MW of wind power capacity across Rajasthan and Gujarat as part of the development. Juniper Green Energy said the projects are expected to improve energy yield and operational efficiency while strengthening its wind energy portfolio.

The latest commissioning follows the company’s announcement earlier this month of 305 MWp of renewable energy capacity across multiple solar and wind projects in Gujarat developed for Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) under various power purchase agreements (PPAs). The commissioned portfolio comprised 183 MWp of solar capacity and 122 MW of wind capacity across Surendranagar, Aravalli, Devbhumi Dwarka and adjoining districts.

Juniper Green Energy develops, builds and operates utility-scale solar, wind and hybrid renewable energy projects. The company stated that its operational capacity stood at around 1.66 GW as of January 14, 2026.
