SEG Solar has announced plans to establish its third solar module manufacturing facility in Greater Houston, with a planned production capacity of 4.6 GW. The addition will increase the company’s total planned solar module manufacturing capacity in the United States to 10.6 GW.

The proposed facility will span 1.15 million square feet and is expected to commence commercial production by May 2027. Construction is scheduled for completion by March 2027.

The announcement follows SEG’s ongoing development of its second 4 GW manufacturing facility, which is scheduled to begin operations on August 7, 2026.

Focus on HJT technology

According to the company, the new facility will support its transition towards heterojunction (HJT) solar module technology aimed at improving module efficiency for the U.S. market.

The plant is also being designed to comply with Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) standards through enhanced supply chain traceability measures.

Supply chain expansion

As part of its broader manufacturing strategy, SEG has initiated planning for an ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Indonesia to strengthen supply chain resilience amid changing global trade policies.

The company is also evaluating locations in the United States for a dedicated HJT solar cell manufacturing plant.

Company profile

SEG Solar was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in Houston. According to the company, it had shipped more than 7.5 GW of solar modules globally and achieved 6.5 GW of production capacity by the end of 2025.
