The Rajasthan government has proposed an outlay of about Rs 2,900 crore in Budget 2026-27 to develop solar parks aggregating 4,830 MW in Bikaner and Jaisalmer and to strengthen the state’s power infrastructure. The renewable projects will be developed through a joint venture model.
The planned solar parks include the Mehrasar–Dinarsar–Barala and Sawaisar–Karnisar–Bhatiyan–Bikoloi parks in Bikaner district, and the Ragha–Sewda solar park in Jaisalmer district. These projects are part of the state’s strategy to expand utility-scale renewable capacity.
The budget provides for the establishment of 19 new grid substations at 220 kV and 132 kV levels and the construction of 110 new 33 kV substations. It also includes provisions for setting up a security operations centre and a network operations centre at the State Load Dispatch Centre to enhance grid monitoring and cybersecurity.
In addition, the state has proposed upgrading grid operations with artificial intelligence-enabled systems to improve efficiency and reliability. The budget extends benefits under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme 2024 to integrated solar cell and module manufacturing units. It also proposes the establishment of an energy transition skilling cluster to support workforce development in clean energy.
Separately, the budget allocates Rs 400.13 crore under the Pradhan Mantri KUSUM Yojana (PM-KUSUM) Component-B for installation of solar pumps in the agriculture sector.
