Tata Power outlines 30 GW capacity target by FY30

Tata Power outlined its medium term growth roadmap at its Analyst Meet held on 15 December 2025, with a focus on clean energy, transmission, distribution and emerging technologies. The company is targeting 30 GW of total operational capacity by FY30, including 20 GW from clean and green sources such as renewable energy, hydro and pumped storage. Clean and green operational capacity is planned to rise from 7.1 GW currently to 20 GW by FY30, with 10.4 GW under construction or at the pre project stage. Tata Power also plans total capital expenditure of Rs 1.25 lakh crore during FY26 to FY30, with around 65 per cent allocated to sustainability focused businesses.

MNRE launches pilot for hydrogen fuel cell vehicle trials

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has launched a pilot project to conduct real world trials of hydrogen fuel cell mobility in India. Under the initiative, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has handed over its Mirai hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle to the National Institute of Solar Energy. NISE will test the vehicle across Indian road and climate conditions over a two year period to generate operational data. The pilot is aligned with the National Green Hydrogen Mission and aims to support the scale up of hydrogen based mobility.

Kshema Power wins transmission order for 350 MW hybrid project

Kshema Power has won an order from Oyster Green Hybrid Three Private Limited to develop transmission infrastructure for a 350 MW wind solar hybrid project in Madhya Pradesh. The scope includes a 51 kilometre 33 kV to 220 kV transmission line and an air insulated substation. The contract covers design, engineering, supply, civil works and commissioning activities. The project is scheduled for commissioning in July 2026.

SECI signs SoI with GEAPP ServiceCo and MoU with IPGCL, PPCL

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited has signed a Statement of Intent with GEAPP ServiceCo (India) Private Limited to cooperate on renewable energy integration, grid strengthening and energy transition planning. The agreement was exchanged on 12 December 2025 in the presence of senior officials from SECI. Separately, SECI signed a memorandum of understanding with Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited and Pragati Power Corporation Limited on 9 December 2025. The MoU provides a framework for collaboration on renewable energy projects, energy storage and emerging clean energy technologies.

Esyasoft and Park+ to deploy 10,000 EV chargers

Esyasoft e Mobility and Park+ have partnered to deploy 10,000 electric vehicle chargers across India over the next three years. The initiative involves an investment of Rs 100 crore and focuses on public and semi public charging infrastructure. Deployments will begin in Bengaluru and later expand to cities including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. The partnership aims to support the growth of electric mobility in India.

Battery storage costs decline sharply as policy support expands

Battery Energy Storage System tariffs discovered through competitive bidding have declined sharply over the past two years, supported by policy measures. Tariffs fell from about Rs 10.18 per kWh during 2022 to 2023 to around Rs 2.1 per kWh in recent bids without viability gap funding, assuming two cycles per day. Based on expected operation at 1.5 cycles per day, storage costs work out to about Rs 2.8 per kWh. Multiple viability gap funding schemes and transmission charge waivers have been introduced to support large scale deployment.

ACME commissions additional 8 MW at Gujarat wind project

ACME Solar Holdings Limited has commissioned an additional 8 MW at its 100 MW wind power project in Gujarat through its subsidiary ACME Eco Clean Energy Private Limited. With this phase, total operational capacity at the project has reached 52 MW. The newly commissioned capacity is located at Titoda in Surendranagar district and was witnessed by officials from GEDA and PGVCL. Power from the project will be sold under a 25 year PPA with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.

Waaree incorporates two new IPP subsidiaries

Waaree Energies Limited has incorporated two new wholly owned subsidiaries, Windora Energy Private Limited and Agni Vayu Energy Private Limited. The entities were incorporated on 16 December 2025 through Waaree Forever Energies Private Limited and are registered with the Registrar of Companies, Mumbai. Both companies are classified as Independent Power Producers and have been created to hold specific power projects. The subsidiaries have not yet commenced operations and reported nil turnover.

US–Armenia energy MoU focuses on nuclear transition

The United States and Armenia are progressing a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral energy cooperation aimed at strengthening Armenia’s energy resilience. The partnership focuses on resource diversification, grid modernisation and expanded energy production. Civilian nuclear energy has been identified as a key pillar of the cooperation. The two countries are also negotiating a 123 agreement to enable exports of civilian nuclear technology to support Armenia’s transition from the Metsamor nuclear reactor to a modern nuclear system.
