Shanghai Electric and Siemens have signed a framework agreement to advance China’s green digital grid transition. The partnership focuses on low and medium voltage equipment and supports China’s dual carbon targets. The agreement for the Intelligent grid medium and low voltage equipment procurement project was finalised at the eighth China International Import Expo.
The companies plan to work together on market expansion, green upgrades, and intelligent systems. Shanghai Electric Group president Zhu Zhaokai said the agreement builds on decades of cooperation. Siemens Energy highlighted China’s importance in the global energy shift.
The collaboration will develop high end equipment and integrated solutions. Both companies have worked together for more than thirty years. They signed a strategic cooperation agreement in April 2025 and held further technology discussions in July 2025.
The new agreement is expected to accelerate the green transition of the power system industry and strengthen Shanghai Electric’s role in transmission and distribution equipment. Siemens Energy is also expanding its transformer facility in Nuremberg to meet rising global demand.
