CPRI inaugurates new regional testing laboratory in Nashik

The Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), under the Ministry of Power, has inaugurated a Regional Testing Laboratory in Nashik to strengthen testing and certification infrastructure for the power sector.
The Nashik laboratory will provide testing services for transformers, energy meters, smart meters, and transformer oil. It is expected to reduce turnaround time for certification, support utilities in procurement, and enhance quality assurance in the western region.
The facility was inaugurated by Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs, in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, state ministers Chagan Bhujbal and Girish Mahajan, and other officials and industry representatives.
Speaking at the event, Minister Khattar said robust testing infrastructure is vital for India’s power sector growth and self-reliance, and highlighted CPRI’s role in providing research and testing aligned with global standards. Chief Minister Fadnavis noted that the facility will boost quality assurance for Maharashtra’s electrical industry. Minister Bhujbal pointed to its relevance for rural development, while Minister Mahajan underlined its importance in ensuring reliable equipment for the power sector.
