IRCON secures Rs 4.58 billion contract for Tato-I hydropower project

IRCON International Limited has won the Rs 4,581.44 million contract for Package I of the 186 MW Tato-I Hydro Electric Project. The award was made on May 2, 2025, following a tender process initiated by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) in October 2024.
The contract covers construction of key civil works on an item-rate basis. This includes headworks, head race channel (HRC), head race pipe, intake, head race tunnel (HRT), surge shaft, pressure shaft, valve house, power house, and supporting infrastructure. The construction timeline is set at 45 months.
NEEPCO is implementing the project in Arunachal Pradesh’s Shi Yomi district. The project will have three generating units of 62 MW each. When operational, it is expected to produce around 802 million units of electricity annually.
The total estimated cost of the Tato-I project is Rs 17.50 billion. The full project is expected to be completed within 50 months.
