The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved JSW Energy Limited’s acquisition of a 100 per cent stake in KSK Mahanadi Power Company Limited (KMPCL) through its wholly owned subsidiary, JSW Thermal Energy One Limited.

KMPCL operates a 3,600 MW (6×600 MW) thermal power plant in Janjgir-Champa, Chhattisgarh, and is currently undergoing the corporate insolvency resolution process under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.

CCI has also cleared Adani Infra (India) Limited’s acquisition of equity shares in PSP Projects Limited. The transaction involves purchasing shares from PSP’s promoter, Prahaladbhai S. Patel, and acquiring additional shares through an open offer. Post-transaction, Adani Infra and existing promoters will hold equal stakes in PSP Projects.

PSP Projects provides engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services across industrial, institutional, residential, and government sectors.

Separately, CCI is also conducting a market study on competition issues in the renewable energy sector across BRICS nations and examining competition-related concerns in Artificial Intelligence (AI) as part of its broader regulatory oversight.
