Vikram Solar Limited has increased its manufacturing capacity by 1,000 MW at its Falta facility in West Bengal and upgraded its Oragadam facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The expansion enables the production of high-efficiency solar modules, including tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) and heterojunction technology (HJT) modules.

With these developments, Vikram Solar’s total annual nameplate production capacity has reached 4,500 MW. The expansion at the Falta facility began with equipment installation on December 5, 2024, and has now been completed. The upgrades at the Oragadam facility have enhanced production capabilities to meet international quality and sustainability standards, supporting the company’s efforts to scale operations.

In the solar manufacturing sector, TP Solar Limited, the solar manufacturing arm of Tata Power and a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), recently inaugurated a 4.3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. This is India’s largest single-location solar manufacturing plant and incorporates advanced TOPCon and monocrystalline passivated emitter and rear contact (Mono PERC) technology.
