Westbridge Renewable Energy’s subsidiary, Dolcy Solar, has received approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for its 300 MWac Dolcy Solar + Energy Storage project in Canada. The project includes a solar power plant with a capacity of up to 300MWac, paired with battery energy storage systems (BESS) capable of storing up to 200MWh of energy. It will also feature a substation for energy integration and distribution.

The approval is subject to conditions outlined by the Hydro and Electric Energy Act and the Alberta Utilities Commission Act. Westbridge plans to seek interconnection approvals in early 2025. This marks Westbridge’s third project to secure AUC approval in Alberta, following the 270MW Sunnynook Solar project, which also includes a 200MWh BESS.

Westbridge COO Maggie McKenna highlighted that the Dolcy project will provide clean energy to power over 72,000 Alberta homes and contribute to the province’s energy transition through renewable energy and agrivoltaics, blending clean power generation with agricultural productivity.
