Voltamp Transformers Ltd has commenced construction of its new power transformer manufacturing facility at Jarod in Vadodara district, Gujarat.

The company has completed all land acquisition formalities and initiated work on the factory building. The facility aims to address rising demand in the transformer market over the next 7–10 years.

In its first phase, the plant will have an annual capacity of around 6,000 MVA, producing transformers of up to 250 MVA in the 220 kV class. Future expansions will be guided by market conditions. The project, with a capital outlay of Rs 2 billion, will be funded through internal accruals. Voltamp currently operates two manufacturing units in Gujarat, located at Makarpura and Vadadla.

Voltamp Transformers showed a mixed financial performance for the quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2024. The company reported a 13% increase in quarterly revenue to Rs 4.90 billion and a 17% rise in nine-month revenue to Rs 13.77 billion. However, net profit for the quarter declined by 22% to Rs 0.73 billion, impacted by rising costs, including a significant increase in the cost of materials and other expenses.

The EBITDA margin for the quarter dropped to 20.48% from 25.74% in the previous year, indicating pressure on operational efficiency. Despite this, the company maintained a healthy order book of Rs 11.14 billion (9,692 MVA) and is progressing with the construction of a new power transformer facility, signalling confidence in future growth.
