Vedanta Limited has scaled up its round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy capacity to 1.03 GW through a combination of wind, solar, and pumped storage projects. This expansion is expected to reduce carbon emissions by over 6 million tonnes each year.

As part of its decarbonisation plan, the company reported using 2.61 billion units of renewable energy in its operations. Vedanta also runs one of the largest lithium-ion forklift fleets at its aluminium plants, uses LNG-powered trucks for logistics, and has introduced India’s first battery-operated vehicles in underground zinc mining.

The company aims to raise its renewable energy capacity to 2.5 GW by 2030.

Vedanta Group is a major producer of energy transition metals and critical minerals. Its output includes over 4.5 million tonnes annually of aluminium, zinc, lead, silver, copper, nickel, ferrochrome, and pig iron. It is also expanding its low-carbon product portfolio in aluminium and zinc to support clean energy systems, electric mobility, and emerging technologies.
