UPPCL to levy 10% fuel surcharge on June 2026 electricity bills

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) will impose a Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge (FPPAS) of 10% on electricity bills in June 2026 for all categories of consumers.

The surcharge has been introduced in line with the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) Multi Year Tariff (MYT) for Distribution Regulations, 2025.

In a circular issued on May 29, 2026, UPPCL informed that the FPPAS calculated for March 2026 would be recovered through bills issued in June 2026. The circular stated that the applicable surcharge for the period has been determined at 10%.

According to the communication, the surcharge is being implemented under Clause 16(4) of the MYT Regulations, 2025. The provision allows distribution utilities to recover additional power purchase and transmission costs incurred during the third preceding month through tariff adjustments.
