The UK and Australia have announced a partnership to pursue their energy transition goals through the Australia-UK Climate and Energy Partnership. The partnership will focus on the development and deployment of renewable technologies such as green hydrogen and offshore wind.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Apia, Samoa, where they underscored the role of private capital and government collaboration in shaping a clean energy future.
The partnership aims to create new industries, jobs, and technological advancements, revitalizing both nations’ industrial sectors while strengthening economic resilience and supporting net-zero targets by 2050. Although specific funding details were not disclosed, both leaders emphasized that the initiative would build on their long-standing climate action cooperation.
Albanese stated that the partnership would enhance international climate efforts, while Starmer highlighted its potential to drive clean energy projects across UK communities.
