A consortium of TotalEnergies, Toyota Tsusho, and Altaaqa Renewable Energy has started commercial operations at its 112 MW solar photovoltaic plant in Wadi Ad Dawasir. The project was built by a subsidiary of Power China and marks TotalEnergies first operational renewable energy asset in Saudi Arabia.

Electricity from the plant is supplied to the Saudi Power Procurement Company under a long term power purchase agreement. The project can meet the needs of more than 15000 homes.

The facility was developed under Round 3 of the National Renewable Energy Program led by the Ministry of Energy. The programme seeks to reduce liquid fuel use in the power system. The project also supports the Vision 2030 target of sourcing about half of the country’s electricity from renewable energy by 2030.
