Toshiba JSW Power Systems, the Indian subsidiary of Toshiba, has secured a contract from NTPC Limited to deploy a centralised monitoring platform across 165 thermal and renewable energy facilities. The project marks NTPC’s first adoption of a centralised plant monitoring solution.
The platform will be installed at NTPC-owned and joint venture sites, including projects still in the planning stage. It is scheduled to become operational between March and April 2027 and will integrate EtaPRO, Toshiba’s plant monitoring software.
The system will gather operational data from plant sensors and apply AI algorithms to detect early signs of equipment faults and perform root-cause analysis. This data-driven approach aims to streamline maintenance workflows and reduce both the frequency and duration of plant outages. Historical data will support anomaly forecasting and enhance maintenance planning.
