Torrent Power Limited has entered into a 10-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) Sale and Purchase Agreement with JERA to secure long-term fuel supply for its gas-based power operations. The agreement provides for supply of up to 0.27 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of LNG starting from 2027.
The LNG will be used to operate Torrent Power’s 2,730 MW gas-based power plants, which support peak power demand and help balance renewable energy on the grid. The agreement will also ensure reliable gas availability for Torrent Gas Limited, the group’s city gas distribution business.
Separately, the company reported its financial performance for the third quarter ended December 31, 2025. Total Comprehensive Income (TCI) rose 30% year on year to Rs 637 crore, compared with Rs 490 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations increased 4% to Rs 6,778 crore, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation rose 15% to Rs 1,472 crore. For the nine-month period, TCI stood at Rs 2,106 crore, up 7% year on year.
Torrent Power attributed the improved quarterly performance to higher contribution from gas-based generation, better performance in its licensed and franchised distribution businesses, and growth in renewable energy, partly offset by higher interest and depreciation costs. The Board of Directors approved an interim dividend of Rs 15 per equity share. The company reported an installed generation capacity of 5,039 MW.
