Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), through its subsidiary China Electric Power Equipment and Technology (CET), to support Malaysia’s grid modernisation.

The partnership will focus on power system planning and integration, development of smart and resilient networks, and adoption of digital and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. A joint committee will oversee technical studies, capacity building, and pilot projects for smart distribution networks.

TNB president and chief executive officer Datuk Ir Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan said the collaboration will help build a more efficient and low-carbon power system, while strengthening Malaysia’s role in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Power Grid.
