The Nuclear Company has issued a solicitation of interest to contractors for its 6GW nuclear power initiative across the United States. The project adopts a “design once, build many” strategy, leveraging advanced construction, AI, IoT, and digital technologies to streamline processes and reduce costs.
Key innovations will enhance site selection, permitting, construction management, and supply chain logistics.Â
The initiative targets rising energy demand from AI data computing, onshoring manufacturing, and electrification. It aligns with the International Energy Agency’s forecast of a 30% increase in global electricity demand by 2030.
The fleet-scale model uses licensed, proven technology to standardize processes, lower costs, and minimize delays. It fosters community, regulatory, and financial stakeholder collaboration while transferring expertise across project sites for efficiency.
An industry working group comprising utilities, independent power producers, nuclear suppliers, and private equity supports the initiative. The group seeks to mitigate risks and boost investment appeal in nuclear power.
