THDC India Limited has commenced commercial operations of Unit I at the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh.
The project, a joint venture between the Union Government and the Government of Uttar Pradesh, involves the development of two units of 660 MW each at an investment of Rs 110.89 billion.
THDC declared the commercial operation date (COD) for Unit I as January 26, 2025. Earlier, on October 28, 2024, Unit I was synchronized with the National Grid, with coal firing achieved within hours of oil synchronization. In July 2024, THDC successfully completed the full-load testing of the wagon tippler and side arm charger for the coal handling plant (CHP) at the site.
