Tata Power Company Limited will invest Rs 11,000 crore in a pumped hydro storage project at Shirawta in Pune, Maharashtra. Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026 and will take about five years to complete. The project will be funded through a 70:30 debt-equity structure.

The Shirawta facility, with a planned capacity of 1,800 MW, is one of two pumped storage projects being developed by Tata Power in partnership with the Maharashtra government. The second project, located at Bhivpuri in Raigad district, will add another 1,000 MW of storage capacity.

Both projects are being implemented by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power. The company said the Bhivpuri project is already in talks to secure commercial and industrial customers within the next six months.
