Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Mumbai Distribution to develop an 80 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project. The initiative will generate 315 MUs annually and reduce over 0.25 million tons of CO₂ emissions, supporting India’s clean energy goals.
The project will integrate solar, wind, and battery storage to supply reliable peak-hour power. It is expected to be completed in 24 months, providing a 4-hour peak supply with 90% availability, supporting grid stability and Tata Power Mumbai’s Renewable Purchase Obligation.
Once commissioned, the project will feed clean energy to around 8 lakh customers, including residential, commercial, and industrial consumers.
With this project, TPREL’s total renewable capacity rises to 11.3 GW, including 5.6 GW operational (4.6 GW solar, 1 GW wind) and 5.7 GW under development. Its solar EPC portfolio now exceeds 15.7 GWp for utility-scale and over 3 GW for rooftop and distributed systems.
The PPA, valued at roughly Rs 1,200 crore, is treated as a related party transaction and executed at arm’s length.
