Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) has partnered with Probus Smart Things to enhance smart metering technology through a Universal Network Interface Card (NIC) with Bluetooth-enabled communication.
The Universal NIC aims to improve smart metering capabilities by ensuring reliable and efficient communication even in the absence of primary networks, according to a statement from Tata Power-DDL.
Key features of the NIC include Bluetooth-enabled connectivity for seamless meter data collection and remote operations, a multi-point star connectivity algorithm to enhance network reliability through neighboring meters, and integration with Tata Power-DDL’s consumer mobile applications and meter reading systems for an improved user experience.
As part of the collaboration, Tata Power-DDL and Probus will develop new smart metering applications and jointly file patents to safeguard intellectual property arising from their innovations.
Gajanan S. Kale, CEO of Tata Power-DDL, stated that the initiative aligns with the company’s vision of providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions. Anand Singh, Founder and CEO of Probus Smart Things, emphasized that the partnership underscores their commitment to innovation in power distribution technology.
The advanced NIC will initially support Tata Power-DDL’s operations, with future plans to expand its use to other utilities and regions.
