FGD retrofitting in thermal power plants reaches 11% of total capacity

The retrofitting of thermal power plants with flue-gas desulphurization (FGD) units has reached only 11.1% of the total installed capacity, according to a report presented in Parliament. Union Power Minister Manohar Lal informed the Rajya Sabha on December 16, 2024, that FGD units have been commissioned in 44 thermal power plants, representing a combined capacity of 22,590 MW out of the total target of 2,04,160 MW across 537 units. Madhya Pradesh secures coal allocation for 4,100 MW thermal power plants

The Union government approved coal allocation for Madhya Pradesh on 28 November 2024 to establish thermal power plants with a combined capacity of 4,100 MW. L&T secures Rs 150 billion NTPC contract for thermal power plants

Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Energy CarbonLite Solutions division has received a ‘Limited Notice to Proceed’ (LNTP) from NTPC to develop thermal power plants valued at over Rs 150 billion.  The contract includes main plant packages for a 2×800 MW Stage-II thermal power plant in Gadarwara, Madhya Pradesh, and a 3×800 MW Stage-II thermal power plant in Nabinagar, Bihar.
