BPCL and CIL collaborate on coal-to-SNG project in Maharashtra

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Coal India Limited (CIL) signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) on December 2, 2024, in Mumbai.  The collaboration aims to explore the development of a coal-to-synthetic natural gas (SNG) project using surface coal gasification at Western Coalfields (WCL). Surface coal gasification transforms coal into synthetic natural gas, providing a cleaner alternative to traditional coal-based energy.

Tata Power and ADB partner to evaluate $4.25 billion clean energy projects

Tata Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) during COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.  The partnership will evaluate financing for strategic projects aimed at enhancing India’s power infrastructure and promoting renewable energy. Fluor JV begins design phase for Cernavoda nuclear expansion in Romania

Fluor’s joint venture, including AtkinsRéalis, Sargent & Lundy, and Ansaldo Nucleare, has received a limited notice to proceed with the design phase for units 3 and 4 of Romania’s Cernavoda nuclear power plant. SJVN inks MoU with Rajasthan government for 7 GW renewable energy projects

FREYR Battery to acquire Trina Solar’s US manufacturing assets

FREYR Battery has signed an agreement to acquire Trina Solar’s 5 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Wilmer, Texas.  The acquisition is expected to be finalised by the end of 2024. UAE’s Masdar has entered a joint study agreement with Sarawak Energy and Gentari to evaluate the feasibility of a floating solar power plant at the Murum Hydroelectric Plant reservoir in Sarawak, Malaysia.
