Sunkind Energy Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding with JA Solar to strengthen its solar cell and module production capabilities in India. The partnership will support Sunkind’s planned 2.4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module manufacturing units.
As part of the deal, Sunkind will leverage JA Solar’s technical know-how and global supply chain. The goal is to bring high-efficiency technologies and international standards into India’s solar manufacturing sector.
This collaboration aligns with India’s push for energy self-reliance and is expected to contribute to the domestic renewable energy ecosystem.
In a related development, Sunkind is setting up two new manufacturing units—one in Madhya Pradesh and another in Rajasthan. The Madhya Pradesh facility will produce both modules and cells with a total capacity of 2.5 GW, while the Rajasthan unit will focus solely on modules with a 1.5 GW capacity. Both sites will produce 610 W TOPCon modules using M10 monocrystalline silicon cells.
The Madhya Pradesh plant is expected to begin module production by the end of 2026 and start cell manufacturing by mid-2027. The Rajasthan facility is set to start operations by November 2025.
