Solex Energy Limited has received approval for its 3.78 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Surat, Gujarat, under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The listing enables the company to supply ALMM-compliant solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to government-supported solar projects in India.
With the approval, the Surat manufacturing facility has been formally included as an authorised solar PV module manufacturing unit under the ALMM mechanism. The framework was introduced by MNRE to ensure the quality and reliability of solar PV modules and cells used in renewable energy installations. Inclusion in the ALMM list is required for supplying modules to a wide range of government-backed solar programmes.
Chetan Shah, Chairman and Managing Director of Solex Energy, stated that the approval strengthens the company’s role in supporting India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem and the transition toward clean energy.
The company has also outlined plans to expand its manufacturing capacity from the current 3.78 GW to 15 GW. The proposed expansion is estimated to require an investment of around Rs 8,000 crore and is aimed at supporting India’s efforts to reduce reliance on imported solar equipment while strengthening the domestic supply chain for the renewable energy sector.
