GenusPlus Group has won a A$270m ($167m) contract from Western Power for the Clean Energy Link – North Region project in Western Australia (WA). This initiative will enhance WA’s electricity network, boosting renewable energy capacity and supporting the state’s net-zero target by 2050.
The contract includes designing and constructing two new 132kV and 330kV transmission lines, terminals at Regans Ford and Eneabba, and augmenting the existing Northern and Eneabba 330kV terminals. It also involves building additional lines in the northern network to strengthen transmission in the Wheatbelt and Mid-West regions.
Construction begins in January 2025, with completion slated for mid-2027. The project will employ a peak workforce of 140, largely from GenusPlus’ existing employees.
The state government is investing $655m in the Clean Energy Link – North Region and an additional $503m to explore other transmission projects in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). Plans include new lines and upgrades in areas such as Kwinana, Collie, and the Geraldton-Perth corridor, supporting Oakajee’s development.
