SJS Enterprises acquires stake in Karnataka wind power firm

SJS Enterprises Limited has acquired a 2.08 percent equity stake in DB Renews Private Limited (DRPL), a wind power generation company based in Karnataka, for a total consideration of Rs 72 lakh. The investment will enable SJS Enterprises to become a captive consumer of the wind power generated by the company.
According to a regulatory filing, SJS Enterprises has purchased 28,800 equity shares of DRPL with a face value of Rs 250 each. The shares have been issued at par, and the transaction will be completed in cash. The acquisition is expected to be finalised on or before April 30, 2026.
DRPL operates a 27 MW wind power project comprising 10 wind turbine generators of 2.7 MW each. The project is located in the villages of Nagral and Hirekudi in Chikodi Taluk of Belagavi district, Karnataka.
DB Renews Private Limited was incorporated in November 2011 to develop wind power generation assets. The company has an authorised capital of Rs 50 crore and a paid-up capital of Rs 34.51 crore. For the financial year 2024–25, DRPL reported a turnover of Rs 24.08 crore, following two years of nil turnover in FY2022–23 and FY2023–24.
DRPL is managed and controlled by its majority shareholder, Doddanavar Global Energy Private Limited. SJS Enterprises stated that its promoter, promoter group and group companies have no direct or indirect interest in DRPL. The company also noted that the transaction has been conducted on an arm’s length basis.
The acquisition will allow SJS Enterprises to source wind power as a captive consumer from DRPL. The company stated that no governmental or regulatory approvals are required for completing the transaction.
