The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced the winners for tranche 2 (Envelope-2 opening) of its electrolyser manufacturing auction, totaling 1,500 MW in capacity. These projects will be developed under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) scheme, with awards divided across three different buckets.
Bucket 1, the largest category, allocated 1,100 MW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity based on any stack technology. Waaree Energies secured the largest share with 300 MW, followed by Matrix Gas and Renewables at 237 MW, and Advait Infratech with 200 MW. Other winners in this bucket included Ohmium Operations with 137 MW, GH2 Solar with 105 MW, Newage Green Electro with 71.5 MW, and Avaada Electrolyser with 49.5 MW.
In bucket 2B, which focused on indigenously developed stack technology for smaller units, 100 MW was awarded in total. Adani Enterprises, Eastern Electrolyser, and Newtrace each received 30 MW, while Suryaashish KA1 Solar Park was awarded 10 MW.
Bucket 2A, which also targeted indigenously developed stack technology, had a total capacity of 300 MW. Adani Enterprises secured 71.5 MW, and Newage Green Electro won 228.5 MW.
In August 2024, SECI issued a Call for Proposals to establish green hydrogen hubs in India under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. In the same month, SECI also issued a tender to appoint an agency to lease or purchase 800 acres of land in Madhya Pradesh for a 200 MW solar project.
