Salzer Electronics Ltd has secured a Rs 500 million smart meter order from a leading advanced metering infrastructure service provider (AMISP) in India. This follows a Rs 50 million order last month from the same customer.
With a production capacity of 4 million smart meters, Salzer’s Tamil Nadu facility is ready to meet rising demand.
“We take pride in partnering with the government’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to modernize the power sector with smart solutions,” said D Rajesh Kumar, Joint Managing Director of Salzer Electronics.
India’s smart metering push has gained momentum under RDSS, with over 20.8 million smart meters already deployed nationwide as of January 2025. The latest data, according to the National Smart Grid Mission, indicates that sanctioned smart meter installations under RDSS have surpassed 222.3 million, with over 138 million awarded and nearly 22.9 million installed.
