Vienna-based renewable energy company Renalfa IPP has acquired a 258MWac solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Teleorman, Romania, slated for commercial operation by 2027. The project aims to advance Romania’s decarbonisation goals and strengthen energy security.
Renalfa IPP plans to integrate 1,000 megawatt-hours of battery energy storage systems (BESS) with the Teleorman project to enhance grid stability and optimize renewable energy usage. This initiative is expected to support regional economic growth and create green jobs.
Renalfa IPP, a joint venture between Renalfa Solarpro Group and RGREEN INVEST, manages a portfolio of approximately 2GW in PV, BESS, and wind projects across Bulgaria, Hungary, North Macedonia, and Romania. The portfolio includes 300MW operational capacity, 460MW under construction, and 1GW in late-stage development.
Dr. Nikola Antonov, Renalfa IPP’s spokesman, described the acquisition as a key step in driving the energy transition in Central and Eastern Europe.
