Reliance Industries Ltd is one of four bidders shortlisted for the interstate transmission system (ISTS) project in Gujarat, managed by Jamnagar Transmission Ltd. This marks a potential entry for Reliance into interstate power transmission development. Competing alongside seasoned players Adani Energy Solutions Ltd, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, and Sterlite Power, the project is seen as a key development in Gujarat’s power infrastructure.
The Jamnagar transmission scheme, known as the “Network expansion scheme in Gujarat for drawl of about 3.6 GW load under Phase-I in Jamnagar area,” has been in the bidding process since January 2024, with bids opened on August 16. PFC Consulting Ltd (PFCCL) is overseeing the bidding, and the eligible bidders will now proceed to price bids and an e-reverse auction (e-RA). The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 38.15 billion, includes significant components such as a 765/400kV GIS pooling station at Jamnagar and a 765kV double-circuit line from Halvad to Jamnagar, spanning 170 km. The project is expected to be completed within 24 months.
