RECPDCL forms two SPVs for ISTS projects in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu

REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), as the bid process coordinator, has launched two wholly-owned subsidiaries to act as special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for ISTS-TBCB schemes currently under bidding. These SPVs, Bidar Transco Ltd and Tuticorin Power Transmission Ltd, will support crucial transmission upgrades and green energy integration.

Project SPV Details:

  1. Bidar Transco Ltd
    • Incorporation Date: November 5, 2024
    • Scheme: Augmentation of transformation capacity with 3×500 MVA, 400/220kV and 1×1500 MVA, 765/400kV ICTs at Bidar Pooling Station, Karnataka
    • Estimated Cost: Rs 2.88 billion
    • Implementation: 24 months
    • Bidding Status: RfP responses open on December 16, 2024
  2. Tuticorin Power Transmission Ltd
    • Incorporation Date: November 5, 2024
    • Scheme: Transmission system for green hydrogen/ammonia projects in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu
    • Estimated Cost: Rs 26.17 billion
    • Implementation: 30 months
    • Bidding Status: RfP responses open on December 20, 2024

These SPVs will be transferred to successful bidders selected through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB).

Future SPVs Planned by RECPDCL: RECPDCL is also preparing three additional SPVs for upcoming ISTS-TBCB projects, including:

  • Network expansion in Western Region near Talegaon (Pune) to support pumped storage
  • Capacity augmentation at KPS1 and KPS2 GIS stations (Phase-V Part B1 and Part B2)
  • Transmission system for Kurnool-IV REZ integration (4.5 GW Phase-I)
