REC completes transfer of two power transmission subsidiaries

REC Limited, through its wholly owned arm REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), has transferred two special purpose vehicles (SPVs) under the tariff-based competitive bidding process. The transaction was completed on October 17, 2025.

Ananthapuram II Power Transmission Limited was acquired by Shivalaya Construction Limited, while SR WR Power Transmission Limited was taken over by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID).

POWERGRID, the successful bidder for SR WR Power Transmission Limited, will implement the project on a build, own, operate, and transfer basis. It involves setting up a 765 kV double circuit transmission line spanning about 109 km from Parli New in Maharashtra to Bidar, with a completion timeline of 24 months.

The Ananthapuram II project includes the development of a 765/400 kV substation at CN’Halli in Karnataka, a 765 kV double circuit transmission line of around 181 km from Ananthapuram-II Pooling Station to CN’Halli, and augmentation works at Ananthapuram-II in Andhra Pradesh. This project is scheduled for completion within 30 months.
