REC Limited and Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC) have incorporated wholly-owned subsidiaries to develop transmission infrastructure for additional renewable energy (RE) capacity in Karnataka. Both companies will serve as Bid Process Coordinators (BPCs) under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework.

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of REC, has formed Bellary Davanagere Power Transmission Limited. The project, titled “Transmission system strengthening for integration of additional RE potential at Davanagere (0.25 GW) and Bellary (2.75 GW)”, aims to integrate 0.25 GW at Davanagere and 2.75 GW at Bellary. The estimated cost is ₹1,111 crore, with an implementation period of 24 months from SPV transfer.

The Davanagere scope includes augmentation with two 765/400 kV, 1,500 MVA interconnecting transformers (ICTs), four 220 kV line bays, one 400 kV line bay, and one 400 kV bus sectionalizer. Bellary substation work involves six 400/220 kV, 500 MVA ICTs, six 400 kV ICT bays, six 220 kV ICT bays, two 220 kV bus sectionalizers, two 220 kV bus coupler bays, two 220 kV transfer bus coupler bays, and a second 400 kV quad double-circuit line (~80 km) connecting Bellary and Davanagere.

PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), a PFC subsidiary, has incorporated Tumkur II RE Transmission Limited. The project, titled “Transmission system strengthening at Tumkur-II for integration of additional RE potential (1.5 GW)”, focuses on integrating 1.5 GW at Tumkur-II. The estimated cost is ₹1,051 crore, with a 24-month implementation period. The scope includes three 400/220 kV, 500 MVA ICTs, a ±300 MVAR STATCOM with switching arrangement for under-construction 2×125 MVAr bus reactors, two 220 kV line bays, and a 100 km 400 kV quad double-circuit line connecting Tumkur-II and Madhugiri.
