TotalEnergies and Aljomaih Energy & Water Company (AEW) have been awarded the 300-MW Rabigh 2 solar power project in Saudi Arabia.

A 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the project was signed with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) during French President Emmanuel Macron’s 2024 visit to the Kingdom.

The project supports Saudi Vision 2030’s renewable energy objectives and is part of the National Renewable Energy Programme’s Round 5 under the Ministry of Energy’s supervision.

The Rabigh 2 plant will be developed, owned, and operated by the consortium, with grid connection planned for 2026. This initiative aims to achieve an optimal energy mix, targeting a 50% contribution each from gas and renewables for electricity production by 2030.

TotalEnergies is also constructing the 119-MW Wadi Al Dawasir solar plant, set to begin operations in 2025, and collaborating with QatarEnergy on a 1.25 GW solar project in Iraq. These projects underline TotalEnergies’ commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint in the Middle East.
