Independent renewable energy company Qair and Etermar Energia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on offshore wind projects across the Iberian Peninsula.
Etermar Energia signed the agreement during a visit to Qair’s Eolmed, a 30 MW floating offshore wind project in Port-La Nouvelle, France.
The MoU focuses on developing floating offshore wind farms, particularly in Portuguese maritime zones. The partnership will involve component stockpiling, foundation manufacturing, logistics, and operation and maintenance services.
Etermar Energia plans to establish a floating foundation manufacturing facility in Setubal, Portugal, to serve the European market and meet global demand.
Etermar Energia executive director Luis Machado highlighted the partnership as a major step toward advancing floating offshore wind energy. Qair Renewables Iberica general manager Inigo Viani emphasized the socio-economic benefits of offshore wind projects and Qair’s commitment to maximizing local content.
Qair, with over three decades of experience in renewable energy, acquired a majority stake in Green Switch Capital in August 2024 to expand its offshore wind, solar, and storage portfolio.
