Prostarm sets up SPV for 150 MW/300 MWh BESS project in Karnataka

Prostarm Info Systems Limited has incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary, Prostarm Karnataka BESS Private Limited, as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to develop a 150 MW/300 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) at the 400 kV Doni substation in Karnataka.

The project will be implemented under the tariff-based competitive bidding route on a build-own-operate basis. The SPV is headquartered in Maharashtra.

In August 2025, Prostarm won Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited’s (KPTCL) auction for the project at the Doni substation in Gadag district. Earlier in July 2025, the company announced plans to establish a 1.2 GWh BESS manufacturing facility at Reliance MET City, Jhajjar, Haryana.

Prostarm provides power electronics and energy storage solutions, including UPS systems, lithium-ion battery packs, and solar hybrid systems. It has commissioned more than 7.35 MW of rooftop solar capacity across 100 sites and is empanelled with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam, Airports Authority of India, and RailTel Corporation.
