Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has won the bid for three inter-state transmission system (ISTS) projects under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process. These projects will be developed on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis.
Here is a quick rundown of what Powergrid will be handling:
- Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-V (Part-1: 4 GW) [Sirohi/Nagaur] Complex
- SPV: Rajasthan V Power Transmission Limited
- Scope: Expanding transformation capacity at the under-construction Sirohi substation in Rajasthan and setting up 765kV transmission lines across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
- Cost: Initially pegged at Rs 50.27 billion, but scope changes have reduced it slightly by Rs 407.5 million (-0.81%).
- Augmentation of transformation capacity at Banaskantha (Raghanesda) PS (GIS)
- SPV: Banaskantha Transco Limited
- Scope: Upgrading the ICT capacity at the existing Banaskantha (Raghanesda) PS (GIS) in Gujarat.
- Cost: A relatively smaller project, estimated at Rs 1.7 billion.
- Transmission System for Integration of Kurnool-IV REZ – Phase-I (for 4.5 GW)
- SPV: Kurnool-IV Transmission Limited
- Scope: Setting up a new 765/400/220kV pooling station in Andhra Pradesh and laying down 765kV and 400kV transmission lines across Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
- Cost: Estimated at Rs 55.5 billion, with a 24-month completion timeline.
REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (REC PDCL) facilitated the bidding process as the bid process coordinator (BPC).
