Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has announced that 50 per cent of its operational energy requirement is now being met through renewable energy sources. The company reported this sustainability milestone in a disclosure to the stock exchanges.
According to the intimation, the state-owned power transmission utility stated that it has achieved 50 per cent renewable energy usage in line with its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) objectives. The company highlighted that this achievement reflects its ongoing efforts to integrate clean energy into its operations.
POWERGRID attributed this milestone to multiple initiatives, including rooftop solar installations across its facilities and a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) plant located at Nagda. Given the company’s nationwide presence, achieving this target uniformly across locations has been cited as a major development in strengthening sustainable operational practices.
The disclosure was submitted to stock exchanges under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.
The company was recently awarded a contract to develop a major 150 MW / 300 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Andhra Pradesh.
