Laser Power & Infra secures Rs 836 crore order under RDSS

Laser Power and Infra Ltd has received three orders worth Rs 836 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme. NTPC and two state discoms placed the mandates for work in Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan. The largest order of Rs 422.11 crore came from Kanpur Electricity Supply Company. NTPC awarded a Rs 212.06 crore project for the Udhampur and Reasi circles. Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam placed a Rs 202.13 crore order for feeder segregation. The company will use its own cables and conductors across all sites. Leadership said the integrated model supports cost control and steady delivery.

BC Jindal signs PPA with SECI for 150 MW RTC renewable energy

BC Jindal Group has signed a power purchase agreement with SECI for 150 MW of round the clock renewable energy at a tariff of Rs 5.07 per kWh. The capacity came from SECI’s 1200 MW tender issued in November 2024. The project will combine solar, wind, and battery storage with ISTS connectivity. It is planned for commissioning within 24 months based on substation readiness. The group has a long industrial presence and has outlined a plan to invest Rs 150 billion by 2030 in renewable component manufacturing.

Coal ministry awards three blocks in latest commercial auction

The Ministry of Coal has completed the thirteenth round of commercial mine auctions and awarded three blocks to Damodar Valley Corporation. The mines have a combined peak rated capacity of 49 MTPA. Auctions took place from November 20 to November 25. The blocks together contain about 3306 million tonnes of reserves. The Ministry expects annual revenue of about Rs 4620 crore and investment of nearly Rs 7350 crore. The auction process began on August 21 and produced winning bids for Pirpainti Barahat, Dhulia North, and Mandakini B.

Rajasthan awards 500 MW BESS tender

Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited has completed its viability gap funding tender for 500 MW or 2000 MWh of standalone battery storage. Six developers won capacity under build own operate contracts linked to 15 year power purchase agreements. The tariff was Rs 285000 per MW per month. Patanjali Ayurved secured 250 MW. Five other firms secured 50 MW each. The outcome reflects a steady fall in storage prices and follows another RVUNL tender for 1 GW or 2 GWh that cleared at about Rs 1.775 lakh per MW per month.

Tata Power plans 10 GW ingot and wafer unit in Odisha

Tata Power Company Ltd plans to set up a 10 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Odisha with an investment of Rs 10000 crore. The company aims to expand its solar supply chain and strengthen upstream manufacturing. Current cell and module capacity stands at 4.55 GW. Sites in Gopalpur and Cuttack are under evaluation. Both offer access to port infrastructure that supports logistics.

Reliance and L&T announce $13.5 billion data centre investments

Reliance Industries and Larsen and Toubro have announced new investments worth 13.5 billion dollars for data centre development. Digital Connexion plans an 11 billion dollar project for a one gigawatt facility in Visakhapatnam. L and T will invest 2.5 billion dollars to build five centres with a combined capacity of at least 300 MW. Visakhapatnam now has commitments of more than 26 billion dollars for more than 2 GW by 2031. Reliance sees the project as a step into the data centre market, while L and T aims to host a significant share of national workloads.

India moves to reshape nuclear sector with private participation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced plans to open the nuclear power sector to private companies. The proposal will be placed before Parliament through the Atomic Energy Bill 2025. The move aims to support long term energy security and new reactor technologies. The government is also studying whether private firms can mine, import, and process uranium. The Central Electricity Authority has outlined amendments in fuel rules, liability, licensing, and approvals to enable private participation. It also noted land challenges and suggested brownfield expansion.

INOX AP to build nitrogen plant for ReNew PV facility in Dholera

INOX Air Products will set up an air separation unit at the ReNew Photovoltaics plant in Dholera to supply nitrogen for PV cell manufacturing. The gas ensures an inert environment during production. The company said the investment reflects its view of India as a base for advanced manufacturing. Operations are planned by the end of 2026. This follows another agreement earlier this month to supply nitrogen to a three gigawatt PV cell plant in Madhya Pradesh.

Avaada plans Rs 1 lakh crore investment over five years

Avaada Group plans to invest Rs 1 lakh crore across India as it expands its power and related businesses. Chairman Vineet Mittal said the group’s solar manufacturing arm has submitted paperwork for its first public share issue. The group employs about 6000 people and plans to add 10000 more in three years. Last month, Avaada Electro filed confidential documents with the market regulator to raise between Rs 90 billion and Rs 100 billion through an initial public offering.

Havells to take 26 per cent stake in Kundan Solar SPV

Havells India has approved the acquisition of a 26 per cent stake in Kundan Solar Pali. The SPV will develop, install, operate, and manage a 15 MWac solar plant. Havells plans a long term power purchase agreement of up to 25 years to qualify as a captive consumer. The company expects lower power costs for its Rajasthan facilities and a payback period of 12 to 18 months. It noted rising domestic demand for modules and is studying options for manufacturing or partnerships.

Sterling and Wilson wins 240 MW solar EPC deal in South Africa

Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited has secured a turnkey EPC contract for a 240 MW AC solar PV project in South Africa. The deal is valued at about INR 1313 crore or 147 million dollars. This is the company’s second major contract in South Africa this fiscal year. The award brings total EPC inflows for the year to more than INR 5088 crore. The company reports a portfolio of more than 22.8 GWp in projects and 9.3 GWp in operations and maintenance.
