Adani’s Panaura pumped storage project gets EAC nod in Uttar Pradesh

The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has recommended Environmental Clearance (EC) for Adani Hydro Energy Five Limited’s 1,500 MW Panaura Closed Loop Pumped Storage Project in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh. The project, estimated at Rs 7,463.64 crore, will use two newly built reservoirs in an off-stream closed-loop configuration and is expected to generate 3,121 Million Units (MU) annually. The committee directed the developer to implement wildlife conservation, muck disposal management, and watershed development measures before final clearance.

IMFA acquires 26% stake in EG Urja Strot for renewable power supply

Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) has acquired a 26% stake in EG Urja Strot Private Limited for about Rs 110.18 crore and signed a 29-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for supply of 65 MW of hybrid renewable energy. The project will comprise 81.4 MW solar, 102.6 MW wind, and a 25 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), with commissioning targeted by June 2027. Following this and an earlier renewable sourcing arrangement, IMFA’s total contracted renewable energy capacity has reached 135 MW.

India unveils indigenous PECVD system for amorphous silicon solar cell

Union Minister Jitendra Singh has inaugurated an indigenously developed Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour Deposition (PECVD) system for fabrication of India’s first amorphous silicon solar cell during the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in Kolkata. The technology enables low-temperature thin-film deposition used in solar cell manufacturing and supports indigenous renewable energy research capabilities. Singh also inaugurated the RETINA incubation centre to promote commercialisation of scientific research and startup innovation.

Coal India says 168 MT coal available to meet summer demand

Coal India Limited (CIL) has stated that total coal availability within the system stands at 168 million tonnes (MT) amid rising summer electricity demand. The company said coal stock at domestic coal-based power plants stood at 47.6 MT as of May 23, while mine-head inventory reached 113.5 MT as of May 24, supported by additional coal available in transit. CIL added that current stock levels are sufficient to support domestic coal-based power generation requirements during the peak demand period.

NTPC commissions final 105 MW unit of Khavda-II solar project

NTPC Limited has declared commercial operation of the final 105 MW phase of the 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Project in Gujarat, making the entire project operational from May 28, 2026. The project is being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL). Following the commissioning, NTPC Group’s total installed capacity has increased to 90,773 MW.

Bajel Projects posts highest annual profit since listing in FY26

Bajel Projects Limited has reported its highest annual profit since listing, with FY26 revenue from operations rising to Rs 2,792 crore from Rs 2,598 crore in FY25 and Profit After Tax (PAT) increasing 74% to Rs 27 crore. Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) rose 38% to Rs 125 crore, while EBITDA margin improved to 4.4%. During Q4 FY26, the company secured multiple domestic and international transmission sector orders and partnerships.

Enviro Infra subsidiary wins Rs 207 crore hybrid energy EPC contract

Enviro Infra Engineers Limited (EIEL) said its step-down subsidiary, Suyog Urja Limited (SUL), has secured a hybrid renewable energy Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract worth about Rs 207.47 crore, excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST). The contract includes land aggregation, Balance of Plant (BoP), civil and electrical works, evacuation facilities, and commissioning activities for wind and solar infrastructure. The project is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2027.

REC, ERDA sign MoU for quality testing under RDSS

REC Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Electrical Research and Development Association (ERDA) to strengthen quality testing and assurance systems under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The collaboration will focus on third-party testing, technical support, and development of quality assurance frameworks for distribution sector projects. The companies said the initiative aims to improve compliance standards and operational reliability of the power distribution network.

China eyes utility-scale wind and solar abroad as overseas clean energy ambitions grow

China has announced plans to develop a large overseas renewable energy project comprising nearly 1,000 wind turbines and millions of solar panels as part of its international clean energy expansion strategy. The project will be implemented in phases, beginning with wind infrastructure followed by utility-scale solar installations in locations with strong renewable energy potential. The initiative is expected to expand China’s global renewable energy footprint and support deployment of large-scale clean energy infrastructure.
