MNRE clarifies customs duty eligibility for wind turbine components

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued a circular clarifying revised eligibility for concessional customs duty on imported forged steel rings used in wind energy generators. The clarification, dated 04 February 2026, follows Notification No. 02/2026-Customs issued by the Department of Revenue on 01 February 2026. The notification inserts a new clause covering forged steel rings classified under tariff item 7326 90 99 when used for manufacturing special bearings for wind-operated electricity generators. MNRE has directed all applicants to route requests for Concessional Customs Duty Certificate (CCDC) through its Wind CCDC portal. Applications are required to include invoices and packing lists clearly corresponding to tariff item 7326 90 99.

Adani Energy Solutions delivers one crore smart meters

Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) announced on 05 February 2026 that it has delivered one crore smart electricity meters across India. The company stated it is the first entity in the country, and possibly worldwide, to reach this scale, with the next crore planned in the coming financial year. AESL operates as an Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider and has a mandate to install around 2.5 crore smart meters across five states. The company reported an average installation rate of about 25,000 meters per day, achieving the milestone ahead of its internal target of 31 March 2026. The rollout aligns with the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme targeting replacement of 25 crore conventional meters.

Bajel Projects reports margin expansion in Q3 FY26 results

Bajel Projects Limited reported improved profitability for the quarter and nine-month period ended 31 December 2025. For the nine months of FY26, EBITDA rose to Rs 87 crore from Rs 63 crore, with margins improving to 4.8% from 3.5%. Revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,784 crore, broadly flat year on year, reflecting a focus on quality of earnings. In Q3 alone, EBITDA increased 45% to Rs 32 crore, with margins expanding to 5.6%. The unexecuted order book stood at Rs 2,912 crore as of 31 December 2025, with recent wins from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.

Hitachi Energy India posts sharp profit growth in Q3 FY26

Hitachi Energy India Limited reported strong year on year growth in its unaudited results for Q3 FY26. Net profit rose 90.3% to Rs 261.42 crore, while revenue from operations increased 29.6% to Rs 2,168.01 crore. EBITDA doubled to Rs 338.4 crore, with margins at 15.6%, supported by higher execution levels and sustained demand. Order inflows stood at Rs 2,477.6 crore, and the order backlog was Rs 29,872.2 crore as of 31 December 2025. The company cited rising electrification needs and data centre demand as key drivers.

Insolation Energy appoints Shreemat Pandey as independent director

Insolation Energy Limited has appointed Mr. Shreemat Pandey as an Additional Non Executive Independent Director with effect from 05 February 2026. The appointment is subject to shareholder approval and is for a five-year term ending 04 February 2031. Mr. Pandey is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer with 35 years of service and holds a BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. His past roles include Chairman of the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission and Secretary to a Chief Minister. The company confirmed that he has no relationship with other directors or key managerial personnel.

SJVN commissions 70 MW Dhubri solar project in Assam

SJVN Limited has commissioned its 70 MW Dhubri Solar Power Project in Assam, its first operational asset in the North Eastern Region. The project has been developed by its subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited at a cost of Rs 367.44 crore and will supply power to Assam Power Distribution Company Limited. The plant is expected to generate 141.13 million units in the first year and about 3,230 million units over 25 years at a tariff of Rs 3.92 per unit. The project was awarded through competitive bidding in February 2023 and inaugurated on 15 January 2026. SJVN said it will support affordable clean energy supply and reduce about 158,270 tonnes of carbon emissions over its life.

NISE and GRID-INDIA sign MoU on solar power forecasting

National Institute of Solar Energy and Grid Controller of India Limited have signed an MoU to undertake joint research on day-ahead and intra-day solar power forecasting. The project will develop a hybrid framework combining numerical weather prediction models, satellite data, and inputs from All Sky Imagers. It will generate probabilistic forecasts for time horizons ranging from a few minutes to 48 hours. The system will be tested at large utility-scale solar parks across India. The initiative aims to reduce risks under the Deviation Settlement Mechanism and support grid operations.

MNRE updates approved list for solar cell manufacturers

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has issued the fourth revision of its Approved List of Models and Manufacturers for solar photovoltaic cells. The update, dated 05 February 2026, adds Evervolt Solar Technology India Private Limited with an approved capacity of 1,074 MW for mono PERC cells. Existing manufacturers Mundra Solar and Premier Energies have expanded their approved model ranges, including TOPCon and bifacial N type cells. Following the revision, the ALMM List II includes ten manufacturers. MNRE expects further expansion as more domestic cell manufacturing lines come online in 2026 and 2027.

Suzlon posts higher profit on record Q3 wind deliveries

Suzlon Energy Limited reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 445 crore for Q3 FY26, up 14.7% year on year. Revenue increased 42% to Rs 4,228 crore, supported by record quarterly deliveries of 617 MW. EBITDA rose 48% to Rs 739 crore, with margins improving to 17.5%. The order book stood at 6.4 GW as of 31 December 2025, with 2.4 GW under execution. For the nine months of FY26, total deliveries reached 1,625 MW and net cash stood at Rs 1,556 crore.

GREW Solar secures repeat 550 MW module supply order

GREW Solar has secured a repeat order to supply 550 MW of solar modules to a leading independent power producer. The company operates a 3 GW module manufacturing facility at Dudu in Rajasthan and is expanding capacity to 11 GW. It is also setting up a solar cell manufacturing plant at Narmadapuram in Madhya Pradesh, with plans to scale to 8 GW by end-2026. GREW Solar manufactures M10 TOPCon modules with ratings up to 590 Wp. The company said the order reflects continued confidence in its manufacturing and delivery capabilities.

SECI awards 899 MW firm renewable power in FDRE auction

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited has concluded its FDRE VII auction, awarding 899 MW of firm, dispatchable renewable energy capacity. Serentica Renewables and ACME Solar secured 600 MW each at a tariff of Rs 6.28 per kWh, while AMPIN Energy Transition won 199 MW at the same tariff. Adyant Emnersol Private Limited secured 100 MW at Rs 6.27 per kWh. The tender was issued for 1,200 MW of inter-state transmission system connected projects to deliver 4,800 MWh per day during peak hours. SECI will sign 25-year power purchase agreements with the selected developers.

Karnataka plans EV City near Bengaluru

The Government of Karnataka has announced plans to develop a large-scale Electric Vehicle City near Bengaluru. The proposal was discussed during an industry consultation chaired by Karnataka Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Priyank Kharge. The EV City is planned on about 100 acres within a two-hour travel distance from Bengaluru and will offer shared infrastructure for OEMs, MSMEs, and incubators. A key feature is a 50-acre integrated proving and testing facility for vehicles, batteries, and charging systems. Karnataka has registered more than 717,000 electric vehicles to date, with over 600,000 being electric two-wheelers.
