Juniper Green commissions 60 MWh of merchant storage project in Bikaner
Juniper Green Energy Limited has begun operations of 60 MWh from its 100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System project in Bikaner through Juniper Green Cosmic Private Limited. This is its first operational merchant storage facility. It is expected to support price arbitrage, grid balancing and ancillary services. The company has also installed 400 MWh of storage at Fatehgarh, targeted for commissioning by the first quarter of 2026.
Vikran Engineering secures Rs 20.35 billion solar contract in Maharashtra
Vikran Engineering Limited has received a turnkey EPC contract worth Rs 20.35 billion from Onix Renewables Limited to develop 600 MW AC solar projects. The order covers design, engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning. It also includes modules and inverters. Completion is expected within 12 months.
Powercon wins O&M contract for REMCL’s 26 MW wind project in Rajasthan
Rail Energy Management Company Limited has awarded POWERCON a long term O&M contract for its 26 MW wind project in Rajasthan. The turbines have completed their initial 10 year O&M tenure under the OEM. POWERCON will first carry out detailed technical assessment and remediation. It will then undertake a 10 year O&M phase focused on availability, reliability and life extension.
Bhilwara Energy to acquire Statkraft’s 76 MW Phata Byung hydro project
Bhilwara Energy Limited will acquire 100 per cent equity of Mandakini Jal Urja Private Limited from Statkraft IH Holding AS. The deal includes the under construction 76 MW Phata Byung Hydroelectric Project in Uttarakhand. After closure, Bhilwara Energy will take full responsibility for the run of the river project. This will raise its total hydropower capacity to 375 MW.
Dilip Buildcon emerges lowest bidder for Karnataka transmission project
Dilip Buildcon Limited has been declared L-1 by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited for establishing a 400 kV substation at Mekhali with associated transmission lines in Belagavi District. The project is awarded under tariff-based competitive bidding. It includes a 400/220/33 kV AIS substation, transformers, reactors and multiple double circuit links. Six bidders participated, with Dilip Buildcon emerging ahead.
Gujarat launches renewable, storage and green hydrogen policies
The Government of Gujarat has launched three policies with an investment potential above Rs 5.8 lakh crore. The Integrated Renewable Energy Policy targets 100 GW capacity by 2030 and allows rooftop wind with virtual and group net metering. The Pumped Storage Policy targets 75 GWh capacity by 2035 to support grid stability. The Green Hydrogen Policy aims for 30 GW of electrolysers, 75 GW renewable capacity and 3 MTPA hydrogen production.
CEL invites bids to set up 1.2 GWp solar PV module manufacturing line
Central Electronics Limited has issued an RFP for setting up a 1.2 GWp fully automated solar PV module manufacturing line at Sahibabad on a revenue sharing model. The selected bidder will build, commission, operate and market production through CEL. CEL will provide limited funding for building construction and relocation of an existing solar plant. Bid submissions close on 15 January 2026, with technical bids opening on 16 January 2026.
DAE seeks tax relief and green status for nuclear power at par with renewables
The Department of Atomic Energy has requested the Ministry of Finance to extend tax incentives and green policy benefits to nuclear power. It has sought GST waiver, eligibility for green financing, inclusion in national green taxonomy and coverage under Renewable Purchase Obligations. It has also proposed removal of nuclear projects from the CPCB Red category. The proposal is part of budget preparations.
MoEFCC recommends EC for Kalai II, Dulhasti Stage-II and Pane PSP projects
The Expert Appraisal Committee of MoEFCC has recommended Environmental Clearance for the 1,200 MW Kalai II Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh, the 260 MW Dulhasti Stage-II project in Jammu and Kashmir and the 1,500 MW Pane Pumped Storage Project in Maharashtra. These projects involve run of the river development and large pumped storage infrastructure. They include significant land requirements and environmental management provisions. A separate proposal in Madhya Pradesh was deferred.
Solarworld Energy secures Rs 725 crore EPC order from NTPC
Solarworld Energy Solutions Limited has received a Letter of Award from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited for EPC of a 250 MWac grid connected solar project valued at about Rs 725.33 crore including taxes. Completion is planned in FY 2026-27. Its subsidiary Znshine Solarworld is included in the ALMM List-I with 1.552 GW annual capacity approved until 21 December 2029. This allows supply to ALMM mandated projects.
