CTU finalises procedure for ISTS connectivity and network access

The Central Transmission Utility of India has issued a “Detailed Procedure” for grant of Connectivity and General Network Access (GNA) to the inter-state transmission system (ISTS), replacing the 2022 procedure with immediate effect. The framework introduces provisions on reallocation of transmission rights, changes in renewable energy sources, and stricter application scrutiny under the CERC regulations. Applications will be processed monthly via the National Single Window System, with defined timelines of 60–90 days depending on augmentation requirements. The procedure also sets rules on bank guarantees, change in control, and connectivity agreements, and applies to both new and pending applications.

MNRE clarifies no NOC needed for ESS merchant sale before RE commissioning

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has clarified that no No-Objection Certificate is required when energy storage system power charged from non-renewable sources is sold through merchant or third-party routes before renewable energy commissioning. The clarification follows industry representations and review of FDRE guidelines. It states that such ESS discharge is treated as non-RE power and is not covered under right of first refusal provisions. The ministry noted that NOC and related provisions apply only after at least one renewable component is commissioned.

NTPC group capacity rises to 89,378 MW with Tehri PSP Unit 4 COD

NTPC Limited reported that its subsidiary THDC India Limited has declared the commercial operation date of the fourth 250 MW unit of the Tehri Pumped Storage Plant effective April 12, 2026. With this, the NTPC group’s total installed capacity has reached 89,378 MW, while commercial capacity stands at 88,298 MW. THDC’s installed and commercial capacity has increased to 3,907 MW. The Tehri PSP in Uttarakhand adds to pumped storage capacity supporting grid stability and peak demand management.

Adani Green expands capacity to 19.3 GW; AESL network reaches 27,949 ckm

Adani Green Energy Limited reported a 35% year-on-year increase in operational capacity to 19.3 GW for FY26, with addition of 5.1 GW of greenfield capacity. The company also operationalised 1,376 MWh of BESS capacity at Khavda, Gujarat. Energy sales rose 34% to 37,567 million units, with CUF of 24.0% for solar, 26.6% for wind, and 35.2% for hybrid portfolios. Separately, Adani Energy Solutions Limited expanded its transmission network to 27,949 ckm and increased transformation capacity to 123,175 MVA, with 99.70% system availability. The company also reported 24.6 million smart meters under implementation with revenue potential of Rs 29,519 crore.

Andhra Pradesh grants discom licence to Google for Vizag data centre hub

The Andhra Pradesh cabinet has approved a distribution licence for Google for its $15-billion data centre hub in Visakhapatnam. The licence allows direct procurement and distribution of electricity for a 1 GW campus, bypassing conventional utility supply. The project spans 601 acres across Adavivaram, Tarluvada, and Rambilli, and will be executed by Raiden Infotech India Private Limited in partnership with Adani Infra Limited. Construction is expected to begin in April 2026, with commissioning targeted by July 2028.

SJVN appoints Parthajit De as CFO

SJVN Limited has appointed Shri Parthajit De as Chief Financial Officer with effect from April 10, 2026. De previously headed Corporate Accounts and Policy, Corporate Tax Cell, and Employment Benefit Trusts at NHPC Limited. He has nearly 30 years of experience and is a Fellow Member of ICMAI, a Chartered Financial Analyst, and a CGMA from CIMA, UK. His experience includes Indian Accounting Standards, taxation, tariff regulations, and corporate governance.

Advait Energy named L1 bidder for DGVCL conductor project

Advait Energy Transitions Limited has been confirmed as L1 bidder for a turnkey contract under a Gujarat government scheme. The tender, issued by Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited, covers supply and commissioning of 11 kV 55 mm² AAAC medium voltage covered conductors with associated accessories. The project falls under the Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana-2 scheme. Additional disclosures, including receipt of Letter of Intent, will be made separately.
